The town of Český Krumlov was built out of hard stone, but it awakes imagination and inspirits the dreams. The key to the town’s secrets are the stories, the real stories and  mysterious tales as well. Through the stories you will learn how the “curved meadow” became the world heritage site, how the master builders named Maggi tell the story of the “towerest” of the towers through their architecture. You will hear also about the roses, the bells, the apples, or the vampire princess. Let the magic tales guide you and walk you through labyrint of old town alleys all the way up to the castle.

My name is Standa Jungwirth and I live in Cesky Krumlov since the beginning of roaring 90ties. For almost as long, I also work as a local tour guide. Sharing the history and ‘genius loci’ is my goal, and I am pleased to see many returning visitors, which is a big satisfaction and confirmation that Cesky Krumlov has always something new to offer with every visit.

During the guided walks, I explain the historical but also contemporary events, with bit of a Czech humor and irony. I am always trying to find new perspectives.

All the guided tours I lead myself to ensure the highest quality and guests experience. As we walk through the alleys, surrounded by the architecture, history and magical atmosphere of UNESCO town, many questions arise.  What do the ravens and stone roses symbolize ? How was it to live in the castle and how was life of common people? How was the town founded and how is to live here today ? And how did the life change after 1989 ? We will discover hidden spots and their secrets, explore local myths and legends, we will talk about the ghosts, the beasts but local people as  well. We walk through Krumlov in time, from ‘crooked meadow’ to southbohemian duchy and moder time dramas. The answers lie in town, in its unique memory and chronicles and I will add my personal experience.

This morning an absolutely wonderful tour with Mr. Jungwirth on the road. He was able to perfectly adapt the interpretation to the guests, he combined history, legends, jokes, and in an hour and a half we got through a lot. I have done hundreds of guided tours around the world and this one was clearly the best. You can see the many years of experience and knowledge, but at the same time it doesn't seem robotic/bored and can be really interesting. Definitely recommend!
